A list of Kitsilano restaurants

A history of Kitsilano. Interesting information; however, it only starts with Caucasian settlements. Of course, the area was settled much earlier by Squamish First Nations, and is named after a family of chiefs. The Squamish name for Kitsilano is Xats’alanexw.

The Kitsilano Yacht Club. It was founded in 1934 and over the years the Club has developed into an exciting venue for one-design sailing. Kits Yacht Club is home to active one-design fleets including the Star, 505, Lightning, Martin 242, and Pirate classes. It also has a number of kayaks and paddlers.

Kitsilano Beach has lots of attractions. Besides the beach, the park, the water, the ocean and mountain views, this is what you get:

  • Connection to the Seaside Seawall system
    Concession stands
The Watermark on Kits Beach Restaurant
    Washrooms
    Oceanside heated outdoor pool
    Tennis courts
Basketball courts (and semi-official beach volleyball courts)
    Playground
Lifeguarded Victoria Day (late May) to Labour Day (early September)
    Parking
… and, last not least, the Planetarium

After you’ve spent a long day walking around the park, I’d recommend you top it off with a visit to Videomatica, one of Canada’s best video stores.
