Webcam Reveals Convention Centre Construction

There are some great views of the Harbour as seen from some of the Vancouver Webcams.

The first is the Port of Vancouver’s site, which features the Harbour view as first in its list of webcams. Looking west, this view includes Granville.

Next is the ongoing expansion of the Convention Centre. This complex webcam shows the expansion of the site out over the water, as well as many user-selected views. And don’t forget the zoom capability. What I like about this realtime webcam is its revelation of the exquisite setting in which this construction is taking place, and the urban way of life which it reveals. This setting is Coal Harbout, and it reveals a new Vancouver, excitingly placed between the natural beauty of Stanley Park, the mountains and ocean and the busy intensity of the downtown urban centre.

Biennale Sculptures Move On

Going west toward Stanley Park from the Marine Building, the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale had several installations in the Coal Harbour area, making the walk along the recreational paths a stimulating experience, particularly if you took advantage of the cellphone guide to the pieces shown.

The whole event is completed at the end of this month, and while it was here, it added a great deal to the mix in open spaces of the Coal Harbour neighbourhood.

Installed in a square bounded by condos on two sides, the street to the south and the view of the harbour, Device to Root Out Evil by Dennis Oppenheim has been an ongoing conversation piece.

January Sales in Coal Harbour

In my overview of January sales in Coal Harbour, I noticed that these luxury condos are not staying on the market for very long. We saw a range of sales from one in CUBE at $284,900 to Venus at $1,713,888. Also over the $1million mark, was a luxury suite in Callisto, at $1,600,000.

Coal Harbour suites at The Pointe, Orca Place, and Harbourside Park sold in the $300,000 – $400,000 range.

The range from $400,000 – $600,000 saw sales at Pointe Claire, 1239 W. Georgia, Palais Georgia and Classcio.
